If you’re looking for a storage unit that will work indoors or out, the Rubbermaid horizontal storage shed might be the perfect fit. These storage cabinets are designed specifically for protecting and organizing your clutter, and are suitable for garden furniture, tools, equipment or even toys and bicycles. We’ll cover the main benefits in this article, so you can see if it’s the right choice for your backyard storage needs.

First off, this horizontal storage shed from Rubbermaid is deceptively spacious. Although it measures 60 by 32 inches square, and 47 inches high, it provides a total storage space of 32 cubic feet. That’s easily enough to hold a couple of large trash cans, several bags of fertilizer, or a collection of your favorite garden tools. You don’t need to worry about getting stuff in and out of the unit either, the lid hinges up and the two doors open wide so you can simply walk in. This is a very well thought out storage shed.

Additionally, the doors have hasps that ready for any lock you want to use – great if you have kids or curious pets that seem to find their way into any small space! The Rubbermaid horizontal storage shed has also been designed to accept various storage shed accessories. One useful feature allows you to easily add a small shelf for things such as old paint and varnish tins or any loose hand tools you normally have lying around.

The storage shed comes in an easy to assemble pack, and it should only take you a minute or two to snap the panels together. Even though it’s easy to build, that doesn’t mean it’s in any way fragile or lightweight. This a sturdy and tough storage shed constructed from high density polyethylene. It will stand the test of time whether you’re using it inside as a garage storage cabinet or an outdoor storage shed in a corner of your garden. Compared to the likes of a Suncast GS2500 Horizontal utility shed, the Rubbermaid shed wins hands down.

There are other storage sheds available from Rubbermaid such as the slide lid and the vertical storage sheds, so it may be an idea to take a look at those too. Also, you might want to compare storage sheds from other manufacturers. A couple that may be worth looking at are the outdoor PVC storage shed from Global, and the outdoor horizontal shed from Suncast.

For me, the Rubbermaid horizontal storage shed has provided the perfect solution. I’m not the most organized of people, so my shed tends to get filled with anything that doesn’t belong somewhere else. But then isn’t that what storage sheds are for?

Storage shed kits are a great way to get yourself that much needed extra space, without the expense of a fully assembled or custom made shed. There are many different types of shed kits on the market and this article will cover some of the options open to you.

One word of caution if you’re thinking of building your own storage shed from a kit – make sure you have the necessary skills to assemble the shed parts. It’s often the case that we start projects like this, only to find we haven’t got the time, or inclination, to finish the job. A partly constructed shed filling up your backyard will be worse than having no shed at all.

The first thing you should do is research exactly what kind of shed you want. Decide on the shape and size, and also where in your garden it will go. Once you know that, you can start looking at the different storage shed kits available. You could start by visiting your local Home Depot or Lowes store. Tuff sheds are a popular choice. Also, you might find that local manufacturers of garages or outdoor furniture have shed kits too.

Once you decide which shed kit you want and have ordered it, you should be able to put it together in a day or two at the most, depending on the size and complexity. If you’re a seasoned DIY enthusiast, you might finish it in one day. The great advantage of kits is that it’s pretty much just a case of putting the pieces together. Follow the instructions carefully and before you fix anything permanently, make sure it all fits together and you aren’t missing any essential items.

I know some people prefer building their own shed from plans, but personally, I wouldn’t hesitate to buy a shed kit. These days they are made in bulk so you can take it for granted that all the pieces will fit properly. And you won’t need to worry about it being sturdy enough or weather proof either.

Additionally, if you’re intending buying your storage shed kit online, you’ll almost certainly be able to preview the finished model on the website, and probably get a look at the instructions too. You might even find there’s a forum for other people that have built their own sheds. They are always a good place for getting any questions answered.

Rubbermaid is almost synonymous with storage, and it’s no surprise that rubbermaid storage sheds are one of the most popular choices for those of us who don’t have enough space for everything. But Rubbermaid have a lot of storage sheds to choose from, so this article will try to help you make the right choice.

Depending on whether you want a storage shed for indoors or for your garden, you’ll probably be looking at one of the modular storage sheds, or one of the sheds from the Big Max range.

The Big Max storage sheds come in 3 models. There’s the Big Max Junior which measures about 6 foot by 3 foot. This would be ideal if you just wanted somewhere to keep your lawnmower, garden hose, and some garden tools. The next size up is the Big Max which is about 6 foot square with 325 cubic feet of space. This would suit a larger lawn mower, step ladders, more garden tools and a shelf. The largest of the range is the Big Max Ultra. It’s almost a mini garage, measuring 6 x 10 and providing a whopping 467 cubic feet of storage space. This is more than enough space to store your garden equipment and tools.

All the Big Max Rubbermaid sheds are built to last. They have a special double walled construction and are fully water and weather proof. They also incorporate Rubbermaid’s wall anchor system, which makes adding shelving a breeze. For outside storage, the Big Max sheds are hard to beat.

Alternatively, if you’re looking for smaller storage, maybe inside your garage or to sit out of the way in your backyard, then one of the modular plastic storage sheds might be more suitable.

Rubbermaid have a full range, including horizontal storage sheds, vertical storage sheds, split lid and slide lid sheds. Whatever size you need, there’ll be one to fit. The 3667 modular vertical shed is particularly useful as it has double opening doors with an access ramp for wheeling heavy items into the storage unit. You can pick one of these up for less than $400.

The 3673 Double Deep Modular Vertical Shed is one of the more popular sheds from Rubbermaid. This one has extra room so that outdoor items such as bicycles will easily fit inside. Also, the 3752 Slide-Lid shed seems to be a popular choice too. This has an innovative lid that slides right back to let you walk into the shed. This would also be ideal for storing bicycles, although it’s probably more suited to inside somewhere. Both these models have a reinforced floor so you don’t need to worry about storing heavy items.

Needless to say, these Rubbermaid storage sheds are all completely maintenance free and will last for years. It’s no wonder they have such a good reputation. Most of the models mentioned are available online.

We all need a bit of extra storage space sooner or later, and if you’re looking for a quick and easy way of creating some in your garden or backyard, then a vinyl storage shed could be just the answer. This article will explain some of the pros and cons of using storage buildings made from vinyl, PVC and plastic. This should help you choose the most appropriate outdoor storage shed for your needs.

One of the main advantages of storage sheds made from plastic is that they are pretty much completely resistant to insects. You won’t ever suffer from the problems that plague owners of wooden sheds, such as termites eating their way through your shed walls.

Also, vinyl sheds are extremely resistant to weather. That’s why you often see names such as Duramax or Durashed – they are renowned for their durability. So when your neighbor loses half of his shed roof in a strong wind, yours will remain as safe and secure as ever. And when the harsh sun beats down and the sides of his shed start to split and warp, yours will look as good as new.

We all know that plastic is completely waterproof, but as well as keeping the rain out, it also means there won’t be any dampness or swelling – sometimes a big problem with wooden sheds. Vinyl storage sheds are also very long lasting. They don’t suffer from all the knocks, dents, scrapes and bangs that softer materials such as wood do.

Vinyl sheds more often than not come without bases, so you’ll need to get hold of one separately. These aren’t expensive, for example if you bought a 4 x 8 Duramax SideMate shed you can get a foundation kit for around $80. Of course the price does depend on the size of your vinyl shed, but even the most expensive foundation kit for the DuraMax Woodbridge 10 x 31 shed is less than $200.

In addition to floor kits for your shed, you can also get skylight kits, window kits, shutters, shelving and vent kits. You’ll find these are available from the same place you buy your shed. By the way, one of the advantages of ordering these online is that they are not overly heavy, so shipping and delivery is often much less than you think.

Picking the right vinyl storage shed doesn’t need to be difficult. Once you work out how much space you have in your backyard, have a look at what some of the more well known outlets have to offer. Popular models include all the Duramax sheds, Rubbermaid sheds and Suncast. It won’t take you long to find one you like.

For some reason, metal garden sheds seem to be more popular than ever. I’m not sure if metal is what I would choose for a garden shed – I tend to think that wooden sheds are far more appealing. But the fact is that more and more people are choosing a metal shed for their backyard. They’re not particularly attractive, so why are so many people buying them?

Well, if you’ve ever owned one, you’d know right away what makes them such a good choice. A solid and well built metal shed can be a very useful asset. The first thing is that they don’t suffer from the weather like a wooden shed does. If you’ve got a metal shed, you won’t ever need to worry about the paint work peeling. And in the winter, wooden sheds can often be more trouble than they are worth.

Although that’s not to say they are trouble free in the summer either. It’s the hot and cold extremes that cause all the problems with wooden sheds. But not so with a metal shed. You won’t see any of the splitting and swelling you get with wood. Your metal shed will hold up to the winter weather without any problem whatsoever.

If you’ve ever had a wooden shed, you’ll know that strong winds can strip the shingles right off. It doesn’t matter what you do try and secure them, there’s always a couple that will peel away. On the other hand, a metal shed comes with a metal roof. So although it’s possible that extreme weather could damage the shed, anything less than a hurricane is unlikely to be much of a problem.

There are other advantages you may not have considered. If you keep such things as grass seed or fertilizer in your shed, there’s no need to worry about pests chewing their way through your walls. That in itself will probably save you half the cost of a metal shed in repairs. And you wont be suffering from rot either, so your shed will remain as sound as the day you bought it. With wooden sheds, you’ll need to treat the timber regularly to keep the termites at bay. Once they get hold of your shed, there’ll be nothing left in no time at all.

Metal sheds need no such level of maintenance, which will leave you more time to enjoy the other aspects of your garden. No rot, no split roof or walls and no maintenance will make for a much happier gardener.

If you’re looking for a compact storage solution with easy access, the Rubbermaid Slide Lid Storage Shed might be just what you need. This article gives an overview of the main features to help you decide whether this is the best storage shed for your home or garden.

Whenever I have bought storage sheds in the past, I have almost always had an issue with poor access. No matter if it’s been a garden shed type storage, or one of the popular Rubbermaid products, it has always been a nuisance trying to get bits of garden equipment in and out. With my garden shed, as soon as there was more than a couple of things in it, access became a real struggle. Trying to clamber over one of the kids bicycles to get the lawnmower out was impossible.

All that changed when I came across the slide lid storage shed from Rubbermaid. I must say these are brilliant in my opinion. Not only are they deceptively spacious for their size, but no matter what you put in them, it’s always easy to get it out again. The reason is that the whole lid slides backwards, so when the two front doors open you can actually walk into storage unit.

If you are going to search online for one of these, and I recommend that you do, the full name of it is the Rubbermaid RHP 3752 Slide Lid Storage Shed. It’s got a sizable 92 cubic feet of space inside, and measures 49 inches wide by 70 inches deep and is 70 inches tall. That’s a great height because you can fit fairly tall items in it without wasting space.

It also comes with a very strong heavy duty floor made from structural foam, which can support up to 1300 lbs in weight, or just over 590 kg. With this at your disposal, there won’t be any problem storing extra heavy items such as motorized lawn mowers or bags of building materials. Storing valuable items in the shed won’t be an issue either as the doors are fully lockable. You will need to supply your own locks though.

The complete unit will supplied as a set of interlocking panels which you can easily snap together. Assembly should not take you more than half an hour, and you will not need any tools, although customer reviews have mentioned that a screwdriver may come in handy.

Although this is a snap together unit, the Rubbermaid slide lid storage shed is constructed from high density polyethylene. This means it will easily stand up to all the knocks and scrapes it might be expected to suffer, and will last for many years. Before you buy this item online, it might be an idea to check your local Home Depot or Lowes and compare prices.

If you’re considering buying or installing a solar shed light, it’s important to explore the various options open to you before you make a decision. This article will explain the different types of solar lighting for sheds, and hopefully help you choose the right solar light for your shed.

It used to be the case that the average 10 x 10 shed was a bit of a dumping ground for your garden tools or any of the assorted garden furniture you didn’t want to look at any more.. but that’s not the case any longer. These days people treat their sheds not only as storage areas for lawn mowers and tools, but also as fully functional workshops, and even relaxation spaces. This has brought with it a need for extra facilities such as lighting and heating, as much for safety as convenience or comfort.

Unless you’re going to install standard electric lighting in your shed, you’ll likely be considering one of the two most popular alternative choices for shed lighting, which are natural sunlight and solar power. Natural sunlight will of course come in through the windows, but in a cluttered and dark shed, a skylight can make huge difference.

If you opt for a solar shed light, you’ll need to pick it carefully. There are some solar powered shed lights that only last a couple of hours, and give out a very weak light. That might be fine if you’re using your shed for occasional use, but if your shed doubles up as a workshop, it won’t be much good. For that, you’ll want to look at shed lights that are powered by a separate solar panel, preferably one that will fill as much of your shed roof as possible. Generally speaking, the larger the solar panel, the more electricity it will store and the better light it will provide.

Many sheds, especially those bought from reputable sources such as Home Depot or Sears, they come with lighting already fitted. It would also be worth checking if any of the shed kits or custom sheds come with solar lighting as an option.

As you can see, it’s not just a case of picking your preferred solar shed light. It’s important to look at alternatives, which might save you even more time and money, and help the environment in a more significant way.

Whether you’re intending building a wooden garden shed or you already have one, the chances are you’re not using it to it’s full advantage. This article will explain some alternative uses for your garden shed you might not have considered.

Anyone that has been in the same house for more than a year or so will almost certainly have a wooden storage shed of some sort. No doubt it will be full of one or more of garden tools, garden furniture, old bicycles or lawn mowers. I know mine turned into a bit of dumping ground for tins of paint, tools and ladders, but that didn’t stop me turning it into something far more useful and attractive.

You have quite a few choices for what you transform your shed into. Have you thought about a nice summerhouse for you and your partner? What about a playhouse for the kids? It’s surprising just how much junk we can collect if we have the space, but it’s also surprising how much we can do without if we put our minds to it.

The first job is to have a good clear out. You might need to hire a trailer for this job, or if you’ve got a large sized shed which is very full, you might need a van for the day. Once you’ve got the wooden garden shed cleared you’ll be able to give it a really good clean and see what you’ve got. I expect you’ll be pleasantly surprised just how much room there is.

If you decide to use your shed for storage space, start by putting in a good set of shelves and cupboards to keep everything organized. If you’re lucky you might have some old kitchen cabinets you can use. Put up plenty of brackets and hooks for the tools which can hung up, that will keep them out of harms reach if you have kids.

Speaking of kids, you might decide to turn your old shed into a playhouse. Although you can buy ready made kids playhouses from your local hardware or garden store, it’s a lot more satisfying to build one yourself. All you need to do is add a few small touches like a window or two with curtains, a couple of children’s chairs, and a lick of brightly colored paint. Your kids will think it’s wonderful, and for them, having a place of their own might be all the excitement they need.

To transform your shed into a summerhouse, it might need nothing more than the addition of a bit of wicker furniture. If the outside is too plain, consider adding some tongue and groove cladding.

Whatever you decide to do with your wooden garden shed, one thing is for sure – it doesn’t need to go to waste by filling it up with all that old garden junk.

If you’re thinking of building your own shed, you’ll need to find a decent set of garden shed plans before you buy any materials or start work. This article will help you get organized so that your garden shed building goes as smoothly as possible.

Don’t be intimidated by the prospect of building your own garden shed. It’s easy to resort to the sheds for sale section of your local newspaper, but with the right tools, materials and preparation, it’s a task well within reach of the average diy enthusiast. As with most tasks of this nature, preparation is the key to a successful project.

Start by working out exactly where your garden shed is going to sit. Measure out the spot in your garden or back yard, not forgetting to include enough space for walkways or access to the rear or sides of where the shed will be. Take a little time deciding on the ideal position. You might even be able to incorporate the shed into your garden as part of the landscape.

The next thing you need to decide on is whether you want to build a shed using one of the excellent garden shed kits widely available, or whether you’re going to build from scratch with the help of garden shed plans or blueprints. Make sure that the plans you use have everything you need to finish the job. Some plans for how to build a shed will focus on putting pre-cut timber together, which is fine if you have the prepared timber or you’ve got an 84 lumber round the corner. But you may be buying raw timber and cutting and treating it yourself, so make sure your plans take everything into account.

When you have your building materials and plans ready, do a mock build of the shed. It’s surprising how much you can discover by just testing how it all fits together. Much better to figure it out before you start nailing, screwing and gluing!

With a clear set of garden shed plans and a clear idea of how it fits together, your project should run smoothly, and you’ll have your tool shed assembled in no time at all. Don’t worry about adding extra features – they can all be tacked on when the basic shed has been put together.

If space in your home is at a premium, you might want to consider one of the Rubbermaid vertical storage shed range. All of these containers are designed to take up as little room as possible whilst offering maximum storage space, especially for those awkward tall items that never seem to fit anywhere. This article will explain the different options available to you and the main benefits of each.

Unlike other storage solutions from Rubbermaid, the range of vertical sheds are designed from the start to have a small footprint. The most popular is probably the 3749 model, which measures just over 2 foot square. That doesn’t sound like much space, but at 6 feet high, you can store a significant amount inside the 17 cubic feet it provides. The 3749 vertical storage shed is also the only shed in the same class which has a double wall. Naturally it is completely resistant to bumps and scratches, leaks and adverse weather. This is a solid unit which can even accommodate wooden shelves if necessary.

The next most popular unit is the 3746 Rubbermaid vertical storage shed. This is slightly larger than the 3749 and offers 52 cubic feet of space. On the ground it measures 4 feet 8 inches wide by 2 feet 8 inches deep. It’s also slightly taller at 6 feet 5 inches. If you’ve outgrown the 3749, this one is the logical next step. It’s every bit as rugged as the other Rubbermaid sheds, made from the same durable materials so there is no need for any maintenance.

The largest of the vertical storage sheds is the Double Deep Modular Vertical Shed, model number 3673. Being a more substantial shed, this one will need a few basic tools to assemble, but nothing too complicated. Once assembled, this shed will provide you with over 160 cubic feet to fill. It has quite a large footprint, measuring 5 foot 6 by 6 foot, and 6 and a half feet tall. This is a slightly more serious approach to storage.

One extra feature of the 3673 is the access ramp which makes storing lawn mowers and trolleys that much easier. Naturally it comes with a heavy duty floor too. One tip if you buy one of these sheds – make sure you position it on a flat surface, preferably solid wood or even concrete. That way you won’t have any problems with the structure flexing or with the doors not closing properly due to misalignment.

Any of the Rubbermaid vertical storage sheds will provide a reasonably priced alternative to wooden or metal storage sheds. The smaller models will help tidy up your garage, greenhouse or patio without using up floor space. Designed for quick assembly and to be maintenance free, all these sheds offer great value for money and should last for years.
